By now, most of you should be well-acquainted with the fact that I am friends with two very talented Lindse/ays. Both former Haute Mamas of the month, Lindsey Stafford is the creative master-mind behind the lens of Lindsey Stafford Photography & Lindsey Brier is the design genius and owner of Anyon Interior Design, and responsible for this amazing nursery that has been making quite a splash in the interwebs.
So, naturally, when these two ladies get together- you know it is going to result in something good. Lindsey with an "e" took some pics of a first birthday/Kentucky Derby party thrown by Linsday with an "a" in honor of her cutie pie son, Hawken. I like to think that I have a particularly keen talent for picking awesome friends. Girls can be catty, and over the years, I've witnessed a lot of female friendships around me come and go, sometimes ending over trivial squabbles or some lame guy who was never worth the time spent on his diary entries anyways. So forgive me for bragging, but I've been able to maintain some pretty incredible bonds over the years with women who continue to amaze me with their sheer awesomeness. I have a number of very talented friends whose accomplishments have really inspired me of late to start pursuing my passions (you know, talking about myself, shopping, etc) and for this, I would like to start recognizing them all in a monthly tribute entry.
So, here she is folks, my first official Haute Mama of the Month:
Lindsey Stafford is a good friend of mine from college and a true Haute Mama in every sense of the word. Linds left an office job in merchandising to spend more time with her adorable daughter Sadie, and decided to fulfill a dream while she was at it, so she picked up a camera and started a photography business that's been growing like wildfire ever since (sounds simple, right? She sure made it look that way). Lindsey has a true natural talent and an amazing creative eye, and she somehow manages to capture my boys looking at the camera and smiling (which is an incredible feat, considering they usually run in the opposite direction with villainous looks on their faces). She's also a full-time mom andyes, just as you may have suspected, looks adorable ALL THE TIME.

(HM): What are some of your personal style Haute Mama Must-haves?
(LS): J. Crew Metallic ballerina flats- cute, stylish and practical!
(HM): Amen sister, I've had the same pair since '08. They fit like a glove and still look great. BTW, these are on sale for $74!
(LS): a pair ofJames Jeans- affordable, classic, great with flats & boots
(HM): Considering the exorbitant price tags on jeans these days- these are a steal. I also tried on these J Brands in a similar look at Anthropologie the other day and the "curvy" fit did wonders for my waist-line- no muffin-top in sight. Plus- they're almost 50% off..
(LS): Colorful Cardigan- Forever 21 has so many to choose from
(HM): You can't afford not to own one of these cute little striped numbers! I'm also loving this cheeky little ditty.
(HM): What are some of your Haute Mama Work Must-haves?
(LS): My Camera! probably the most stylish and creative thing I own.
Also, Cute rainboots for shoots(and for running around parks, beaches, playgrounds with the kiddos I take pics of) - from Target -mine have polka dots
(LS): of course a headband, keeps my hair out of my face and lens
(HM): Anthropologie has a great selection
(HM): What are some of your Haute Mama Mommy necessites?
(LS):the Miracle Blanket for when they are teeny and a sleep sack for when they're a little bit bigger. Both complete lifesavers.
(HM): These were two of my absolute necessities as well. The Miracle Blanket, or "the straitjacket", as we called it in my house, was the perfect remedy for an overtired newbie with flailing limbs. The sleep sack is the perfect way to ensure little toes stay cozy when they can't have a big old down comforter like mom. Speaking of, get a load of the Kangapouch! I wouldn't mind bundling up in one of these bad boys.
(LS): CROCS all the way. In any bright color. I now understand why all kids wear them. So essential.
(HM): Max and Hud live in their "crocodilios" all summer long. We wear green ones- it's our signature color.
(LS): for babies too little to walk, the Trumpette socks that look like shoes. Babies don't need shoes, they really don't, so these do the trick.
(HM): I think I ovulate every time I see a pair of these.
(LS): and, a fabulous little puffy vest
(HM): This one by Lily Pulitzer has owls on it- how cute is that??

Well folks, she's at it again. As you may remember, our first official HMOM, the talented Lindsey of Lindsey Stafford Photography, is putting me to shame with her ridiculous talent, creativity and overall cuteness.
Miss Linds hosted a little Stella and Dot soiree at her new pad in SF last week and her place was looking super bright and cheery thanks to these whimsical little tissue pom poms she had whipped up. Linds got the surprisingly simple how-to from our monotone friend Martha. Check out the tutorial for yourself here.
Plus, to add insult to injury, she made these insanely cute and perfectly frosted cupcakes. I may not be the best at making cupcakes, but I sure can put them away. I ate three, obviously.
Lindsey Stafford is a miracle worker. When she asked me if the boys would participate in a studio shoot she was organizing with a group of kids, I responded with a mix of elation and hesitation. Smiling per request and cooperating are not among the boys' current arsenal of skills, but with some heavy bribery and the promise of a new Captain Hook costume and a stuffed squid, I was feeling confident that my men would perform come game time. I can't say the boys were completely uncooperative, but there was a lot of Max's signature platypus noise going on (he told me recently that he makes this noise to "scare away his enemies") and definitely more tongues than teeth were bared. Linds, however, still managed to capture some serious magic. Behold:
These weren't exactly the smiles we practiced, but it's hilarious.

Despite some road bumps along the way, including this little debaucle and the fact that one of the sizes of my Tibi, back-up-turned-only-dress, arrived with the elastic shot in the waist (fortunately both sizes worked)- I would have to say that the end result of my Rent the Runway experience was a successful one. The electric shoulder was a hit and the compliments were rolling on this particular night. I was feeling pretty good- if not just a little bit Disco Grover.
And you know what, for the very lovely price, I would, and probably will, do it all again.

And on a very random side-note- does anyone feel like their face has completely changed since they've had kids? I swear mine grew like 4 inches in length (as evidenced by the first photo above). What's up with that?
